Vision

An inclusive society, where all children are provided an opportunity to thrive.

Background

ETA Children’s organization is a non-Profit Organization for children with Special Needs based in Ntinda Kampala, Uganda.  It was set up with the aim of making sure that every Child of any age who is differently abled with limitations in performance, is able to get continuity of services that enable them attain independent functionality, and live a fulfilled life. The centre also promotes inclusive specialized education through integration of therapy, to develop vocational and daily life skills. Children with Neuro-developmental conditions, physical disabilities, learning, and hearing impairment face a lot of challenges that limit their ability to function. This prompted the formation of ETA children’s organization, whose main aim is to see an inclusive society where all children are provided an opportunity to thrive with the lasting love of God.

ETA Children’s Organization therefore desires to provide a consistent holistic program and a one-stop facility for children with special needs.  With our technical and trained team, we envision a society where these children reach their God given abilities and live a positive future.

Problem Description

  • ETA Children’s Organization has noted that many children with special needs have communication, self-esteem, sensory and many more challenges that affect their cognitive and physical abilities thus limiting their functionality.
  • Autistic children work well with a routine and once this is abruptly interrupted, there are challenges dealing with autistic children, and it takes time to get them back to stability. Unfortunately, due to economic challenges/financial constraints, some parents have challenges with paying for the Centre’s services to have their children continue the much-needed therapy. As a result, regression sets in and the children have to start over with the therapy interventions offered to them. The Centre has registered over 10 children whose parents/caregivers are unable to afford the continuous therapy interventions. These children need financial sponsorship in order to receive therapy services in order to address these issues, this would greatly impact their lives.
  • There is an outcry from the current parents who need vocational programs for their children, that the Centre is getting. We currently execute some activities on a small scale because the Centre lacks some amenities like therapy materials, playground equipment, cookery equipment, musical instruments, computers, arts and crafts materials to implement the different programs that the children need to go through. Similarly, many parents are unable to afford this vital training even when they so desire it.
